I’ve been a bit lethargic about posting the last few days. The words just weren’t forming any sort of decent sentences is my brain. Everything seemed boring. It didn’t help that I’ve been running around here like a maniac the past few days, trying to cram as much into each available second as I could. Thankfully I did get a lot of things done – unfortunately you had nothing to read for a few days. But I’m back now and hopefully can manage to keep my inspiration going too. I certainly have plenty to blog about now! ๐Ÿ™‚

We had another very productive weekend in the garden. You might recall what our garden looked like in early February. That big pile of weeds and tree trimmings had actually grown quite a bit because we had a massive pruning session after I took this photo. Unfortunately I forgot about my Canon while we were video taping. Terrible. But as you can see it was a pretty massive pile. The video below has a shot with the trimmings too. We were almost up to the cross beam on the greenhouse for a while.

But we launched a full scale assault on the pile and packed all the twigs and weeds into some boxes we sitting around in the barn. We had to cut up a bunch of fresher stuff that we cut recently which seemed to take forever. Thankfully once we reached the drier, older stuff the pile was gone in no time. We found a beautiful pile of dirt underneath all the weeds which was just soft and fertile. There was actually enough extra soil that we could level out the first raised bed next to the strawberries too.

You can see that bed at the bottom of this photo, the one closest to us. Only the largest raised bed is left now but we have some more weeding to do before we can add the soil that we bought on Sunday. We have 350 liters of soil in my truck waiting for us. It looks like that should be plenty to finish things off.

We also shot a video for you to check out below. I find it’s much easier to convey all the work that has occurred and hopefully a bit more interesting too. ๐Ÿ™‚

We’ve got more big plans for the coming weekend. We want to take down the vines in the courtyard, build the tunnels for two of our raised beds and turn the beds around the edge of the garden to start killing off the weeds. The weather is not looking like it will be too great which could seriously derail our progress – but maybe we’ll get lucky
