We just came back from a really long walk and Ayla is totally worn out. She’s been just kinda hanging out most of the day in the courtyard while we made two trips to the home improvement store and worked in the garden so we figured we’d take advantage of the daylight and the nice coolish weather to go for a long walk. We took one of the paths off of our main road which runs through a bunch of farming fields. Since there was no one around Ayla got to run off leash a lot and really made the most of it. She loves running through the grass fields which is something we have to get on camera at some point.

We’d been out walking about 40 minutes already when we ran into a woman and two young girls walking what we think was a Golden Retriever mix named Bonnie. Her mommy told us she’s about 2 1/2 years old and she was really pleased to see dog big enough to really be able to play with her. So even though Ayla was pretty worn out already, we figured a play session wouldn’t be totally out of line either. Bonnie was already off her leash and they were trying to play…so we let them go at it. We were happy to see Bonnie really holding her own for a while…but Ayla’s size eventually won out and she was able to knock Bonnie over. One of the funniest moments was when the two young girls pulled out their cell phones and started taking pictures of the dogs playing.

After about 10 minutes both of them were just completely spent so we put Ayla back on the leash and get her home before she totally ran out of energy. Hopefully this walk will have some impact on her desire to eat our seedlings and steal stuff. She’s not really been able to run free on most walks lately because there have been other people around…and she’s been abusing her privileges by not coming back when we call her. At the moment she’s totally passed out and a good dog is always a tired dog.
