We have been spending a lot of time out back, behind the barn, in our vegetable garden lately and quite frankly we are beginning to miss working on the house. This weekend we have made good progress on the greenhouse, finally finishing all of the framing. Now all we need to do is build the windows and doors and put them in.
We also finished our first raised vegetable bed and replanted all the strawberry plants we have salvaged. It is not perfect, given that we where working with soil which hasn’t seen a drop of water in the past few weeks but we managed in the end. We still need to pick out some twigs and weeds, but still we figure this bed is an upgrade to sitting on a wooden board.
There is still A LOT of stuff to be done back in the garden, so to answer the question about when the garden will be finished – not for a while. We still have to fill in the rest of the beds, finish the greenhouse, fill the paths and do some major weeding around the perimeter. We hope to finish the beds and greenhouse covering next weekend – hopefully. Then it will be a two weekend forced break S’s grandma is turning 80 the weekend after next and the weekend after we will have a few friends spending the weekend. Perhaps we can put them to work!
