A quick post on a project that has taken a back seat to the guest house, the build out of the mudroom. We haven’t done much in there, besides cleaning it out so far, but on Friday our favorite electrician rewired the entire thing, ripping out the 30+ year old wiring and replacing it with the newest of the new.

This in itself is not so exciting, but one thing in particular is pretty cool. From the time we moved in we have been using the “mudroom” for laundry and our big freezer trunk and we have always been complaining that the only light switch was on the other end of the room. Now with the new wiring we where talking with the electrician where to put the switches and finally it dawned on us we needed a motion activated light.

Really, a mud room is a place you always walk in and out of multiple times a day. We are also making the old freezer room into a pantry, so this place will be used for laundry and storage, meaning you always have your hands full when entering and exiting. We love the motion dectector in there and it should definitely cut down on the electricity bill!
