Soooo, the bathroom finally got wrapped up at about noon on Friday. Thank goodness. Everything is installed including the new fixtures although there was almost an altercation between the contractor and I because he tried to tell me that the installation of those pieces was not included in his bid.

Hubby actually decided to come home early on Friday because he heard the contractor was getting lippy with me and obviously that just isn’t kosher since I am the go between for the majority of the daily stuff during the renovations. But the contractor apologized about the misunderstanding before hubbers could get home so we figured we’d let the guy live another day 😉

We intended to talk with the contractor again on Saturday (that was the original plan before he started spending every day at our house working) about the remaining projects we wanted to get a bid on, but since hubby was already home we decided we might as well talk to him then. It should be very interesting to see where his figures come in and hopefully they will be well in line with what we have budgeted for everything.

On Saturday, hubby and I went to the home improvement store to see if we could find a wall border which would go with our green tub, the dark wood furniture and the somewhat funky floor tile which are all in the bathroom. We were shocked to find that there is actually a trim that matches the color of the furniture EXACTLY. But we have to order it. Not a huge problem but we decided to paint the grout on the floor first to see if we are really willing to keep the floor tile or not and then order the wall trim if we are keeping it instead of just potentially wasting money.

So this morning we painted the grout in the floor. We were a little impatient and didn’t wait quite long enough before we began to clean the excess off the floor and will need to redo a lot of the floor but we at least have an idea of what the floor will look like now and it’s looking very good. We actually think we will probably be keeping the floor now and absolute work case we will just re-grout the floor if the painting thing doesn’t work out.

Otherwise, the house is finally starting to warm up. It was super cold in there with no heat on but thankfully the heater is really good and heats up the house pretty quickly.

On a bad note, the new radiator in the bathroom started leaking while we were there on Saturday. Not really sure what the problem is but it looks a bit like it could even be leaking in the wall…which is obviously a VERY bad thing. The contractor is supposed to come out tomorrow to look at it and hopefully fix it. Thankfully we gave him a key on Friday after we’d decided not to fire him so I won’t have to drive over here early to meet him. We’re just hoping it’s not a real issue at this point…and reminding ourselves again that we won’t be messing with the rest of these radiators for a long while.
