I have been making an effort to post more quality over quantity posts the last few weeks. And you probably noticed that last week I neglected to post anything at all. That was mostly because we had some friends visiting from out of town. But we weren’t really doing anything special on those days so I still could have blogged — but I was just lacking inspiration. And at the moment I have a bunch of topics I could write on — but Mackenzie is refusing to nap and my window of opportunity to write something meaningful is closing — so hopefully I will be back tomorrow and the next day with more useful words!
Instead today, you’re just going to get excuses. ๐
- I had to go buy bubbles.
- Ayla is blowing coat.
- I have to vacuum, again!
- I keep getting distracted.
- My level of concentration is nil.
- Mackenzie is dancing around.
- It’s getting pretty hot outside, which means warm days inside too!
- I’m hungry.
- I’m trying to push forward some unfinished projects.
- We’ve been expanding our web consulting business…
I know that might not seem like a life or death event — but after an epic fail at making bubbles for us (actually they turned out pretty well but we have no bubble wands and I found making one to be really unsuccessful) and using some at a friend’s house that were just fantastic, I had to take a little road trip and get my child some decent bubbles so we can enjoy this gorgeous summer-like weather we’ve been having.
I could probably brush Ayla from sunrise to sunset for three days straight and still not have all the dead fur off of her. She’s not only shedding like crazy, but she’s also bringing back a desert-worth of sand after every walk — and leaving it all over the kitchen. Which brings me to number three…
At this point in time, I could vacuum twice a day and the floor would still be dirty again 30 minutes later. And for anyone that might now be thinking I must be a neat freak — I am definitely not. In fact, I am dying to hire a housekeeper, a garden assistant and someone to keep our courtyard and pavers free of weeds.
The doorbell rings, a new email message pops up that needs to be answered, the dishwasher needs to be unloaded for the umteenth time. I know, it’s all in a day’s work for the work-at-home-mom!
Wait — is that the same as #4? I’m going to go with no. My concentration is probably lacking because of the fact that my to do list has a to do list — each of which is longer than my leg! And I am constantly feeling like I’m about to forget to do something.
Not that I would trade that for anything in the world. I wanted to be able to stay home with her and I am so thankful I have that option. I may not be able to spend all day catering to her every whim — but I don’t think that would be very healthy for her either, especially when she starts pre-school soon!
It feels like summer is in full swing here, despite the rather cool evenings we’ve been having. And to be honest, when you live without air conditioning, those cool evenings are a life saver! Sleeping with the windows open to cool down the house might take a little getting used to — but all that fresh air has to be good for you. So now inside the house, during the day, it tends to get rather warm which often makes me feel like dozing instead of working.
But if you know me, you know that’s not really anything new. I tend to eat 4-6 small meals throughout the day. Not necessarily because it’s the healthy thing to do — but because I’m starving again after a few hours! Must be all that bubble and Mackenzie chasing I’m doing. ๐
There are so many things we NEED to do around here, from house stuff to garden stuff to personal stuff to business stuff. So I’m trying to get more organized about all of it so that we can keep moving forward with our goals.
I’ve been building websites and businesses since college (way back in 2000) and Stefan for even longer — and we’ve decided to really put an effort into our web consulting, marketing and company branding business, arma communications. I doubt that it’s the last time you’ll hear me talking about it, and I’d love to hear from you if you need help with your business (both online and offline.)
I’m glad I’m not the only person slacking! haha. I don’t know what it is lately, but it’s been extra hard to scrape up the motivation. Oh, Twitter & Facebook are my main source of distractions! I can’t tell you how many times I tell myself I’m going to get something done and then end up getting lost on twitter or Facebook for a couple hours! ahhh!
Great post~!
