Mack and I got to have a fun excursion on Friday to a new park we’ve never been to. Actually we’d never even heard of it and it’s possibly one of the best kept secrets around.

We met up with friends Emmanuelle and Liam…who you might remember from previous posts…an took full advantage of what was an absolutely gorgeous morning. It actually might have been a bit warm had it not been for all the magnificent trees in this park…but under the trees it was nice and cool.

The first objection when we got there was to fully explore the sand box. Mackenzie is totally crazy about sand and I guess I can see the draw. It’s cool, it’s squishy, you can dump into a bucket, empty the bucket and start all over again. Good times.

Liam is also a big fan of sand…and the mommies determined that at this age, the greatest thing ever when it comes to building sand castles is tearing them down. I don’t know what it is, but Mack was totally pleased to be making all the towers “kaputt.”

I took a bunch of photos of someone else’s child for a change which was fun…especially since he can be really hard to photograph. If he knows you’re looking, he’ll just give you a blank stare. But somehow I managed to not get too many of those this time!

Here’s another difference between little boys and little girls: the slide. Liam LOVES the slide and must have gone down it 20 times in a row…until the point when Emmanuelle just didn’t want to climb the stairs anymore.

Mackenzie, on the other hand, was perfectly happy to just keep playing in the sand. She drove that little sand tractor all over the place and explored going up and down a hill. But no interest at all in the slide, swing or other otherwise “dangerous” activities. Maybe she’ll be more excited to try them out next time. 🙂
