I was recently challenged by Mecca Bingo to drag up some of my childhood memories. I haven’t done a meme post like this in ages, so I thought it might be fun. Today I’m going to flash back to my high school days. The Internet has grown quite a bit since the last time I did one of these Q&A things…so this could be interesting. ๐Ÿ™‚
  1. Name your group of best friends during school โ€“ are you still friends?
My friends changed a few times over the years, but some of my best friends were Nikki, Katie, Nadine and Amy. Thanks to Facebook, I’m actually friends with all of them still and many other people. I even keep up with a friend I’ve had since 4th grade. I love how the internet has made the world a much smaller place.

My BFF and me at Kings Dominion — Don’t you just love my bangs??

  2. What would your typical weekend look like as a teenager?
Hmm, a typical weekend. Hanging out with friends, maybe cruising the mall or going to see a movie. Burning gas by cruising the strip in FroRo or sitting at the car wash, expecting people to stop by. Waiting for my boyfriend to get off work at McDonalds. Or I might have been at work myself in the local department store, Burdines. And there definitely would have been a few hours in church too. Perhaps a river lot party if we were lucky.
  3. At 14, what did you want to be when you were older? What do you do for a living now?
I’m not really sure what I had as goals. Survive high school and get good grades to get into a good university…those were the goals.
When I started at the University of Miami, I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to be when I grew up. Just knew I should study business since it would be versatile for everything I would do later in life. I was fairly entrepreneurial minded even then, just wasn’t sure where to focus that energy. And as you may know, I now have my internet marketing ventures and run a web design and marketing agency with Stefan, my husband.
  4. What artists/bands did you love as a teenager?
Let me try to channel my CD wallet from back then…I listened to a lot of Christian bands then, like DC Talk and Amy Grant. I also listened to a bunch of country music. And then the dance station came around so it got influenced by a bunch of other stuff.
  5. Who was your first celebrity crush?
I would have to go with Corey Haim. He’s the one that sticks out the most. Not sure I was really head over heels for any celebs in high school, though.

  6. What was your favourite film? Is it still your favourite?
Austin Powers, Men in Black, Con-Air. Still actually like most of those. MIB not as much as the others. ๐Ÿ™‚
  7. What were your hobbies as a teenager?
Talking on the phone. My mom will definitely verify this.
  8. What is your biggest regret?
I try not to live with regrets. I’m happy with my decisions from that time period and have carried many lessons with me for life ahead. High school can be a rough place so you’ve got to stay strong.
  9. What advice would you give your 16 year old self?
Don’t sweat the small stuff…and it’s all small stuff.ย  Do not get wrapped up in the drama. Stay strong — this is not what life will be like forever.
