Dear Mackenzie – Florida rocks
Dear Mackenzie, I know this letter is hopelessly late this month…but we were having so much fun in Florida for those two weeks around Christmas that I couldn’t tear myself away from enjoying time with you and your daddy to sit down in front of the computer. But that doesn’t make this letter any less interesting. In fact, it may be one of the biggest letters ever since you’ve had a... read more

Dear Mackenzie: You’re exhausting
Dear Mackenzie, A month ago we were celebrating your first real Easter where you could really participate and know what is going on. There was no egg searching part of the mission, but you did have to go searching for your Easter baskets. Next year, I promise we’ll amplify the fun and do an egg search — although I guess with all the egg redecorating you did on the bushes, you might have been... read more

Mackenzie’s Christening Dinner
Just about two years ago, several close friends and family gathered together to celebrate Mackenzie’s christening. Not only was she showered with love, but also tons of presents — and the adults got to enjoy lots of delicious cakes and other yummy treats. Since I just discovered over the weekend that I had never shared these photos, I thought that it would be appropriate now since it was... read more

Dear Mackenzie: You are a chatterbox
Dear Mackenzie, I’m writing your letter a bit early this month because I’m participating in National Infertility Awareness Week next week, when your 29th month of life is being celebrated. I can hardly even begin to fathom what it might be like to wonder month after month if a pregnancy test will ever show a positive symbol or if all the testing, shots, emotional turmoil and more will be for... read more

Dear Mackenzie: Oh how you make us laugh
Dear Mackenzie, Today you are now 28 months old. You are such an amazing little person and so very funny. You make us laugh all the time. You are talking nearly nonstop and even though we mostly speak English around you, you still manage to throw out a bunch of things in German. Apparently you’re listening to everything around you very intently! Some of your favorite phrases right now are: “Bye... read more

Garden plans and a play house
After throwing around a few ideas that we have for our garden, we’ve decided we definitely need to get our butts in gear. It’s starting to be a bit warmer during the day, and we’ve had lots of wonderful sunshine. We’ve got seeds to plant, a greenhouse to recover, an aqauponics setup to build, trees to prune and a raised bed to remove. One of our beds (pictured below when we had... read more

Capturing Body Parts
The topic of body parts for You Capture this week was interesting and a bit more challenging since I can rarely get my 2 year old to sit still long enough to be photographed…but yet; I succeeded. My daughter’s hair is soft like a bunny rabbit…and this is the first time she’s ever let a hair clip be in her hair for more than 2 seconds. She noticed that a little bear figure of hers... read more

Dear Mackenzie: Merry Christmas, Darlin’
Dear Mackenzie, What better time for us to be enjoying your 25th month of life than over Christmas. We got you all dressed up for Christmas Eve, as we prepared to unwrap gifts and celebrate with your Oma & Opa. You couldn’t have looked cuter in your new dress from Grand Dale — so mature and just adorable in your “tute dress.” And you once again experienced an overload of... read more

Capturing Thanksgiving
I know you’re used to seeing my YouCapture contributions on Thursdays, but Beth gave us the assignment of capturing what we ate. Now that would have meant getting in photos of Thanksgiving treats for most…but since we’re here in Germany there they don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, we gather our friends together on Saturday to feast. So as I read Beth’s post this morning (yeah,... read more

Reclaiming things for Mack’s room
Mack inherited a ton of stuffed animals from me that have been carried all across the US and now to Germany. Some of them (like the gigantic tigers) are new and others are just loaners (like the huge white polar bear whose name is Norman and has been our marriage counselor since we started dating — if something goes wrong, it’s the bear’s fault!) I had all the bears and animals... read more
