A big woof to all my dog friends out there!

Sorry it’s been a while since I last barked at you but I have been busy trying to seduce all the boys in town because I was in heat! Oh what fun!! I even managed to convince a couple guys to run away from home…but mom wouldn’t let them in the yard to play with me. BORING!

You probably noticed her babbling on about this Hessenpark thing…I don’t know exactly what it was but we had to take a car ride to get there…which thankfully didn’t last too long since I had to be all the way in the back of the car where I could not stick my face in the air conditioner. So tragic.

When we got to the place, I could have sworn we must have made a big circle back to our house…but everything smelled different. And you would not believe the STRANGE stuff I saw there! It was incredible. First, we came across this area with a huge, grunting animal which smelled rather wonderful. She was hanging out in a big mud puddle and I think it would have been nice to play with her and her little friends a bit…but apparently that was not allowed.

After that, I ran into some chickens. I’ve seen a few of those before but they were usually behind fences. These guys were just wandering around outside. I tried to chase them, too, but dad put his foot down. What’s a dog to do??

We walked and walked FOREVER and a saw some cool people who gave me a little love. And then we came to this thing…which I heard them call a deer? He was laying by the fence when I came over and he just stood there checking me out. We were close to the same size and I think if that big fence hadn’t been between us, we could have had a great time running around. But again, the fun police put a bit NO on that too.

But more exciting than anything else we saw all day, was this:

They called it a donkey or something? This thing looked like a horse…but it definitely wasn’t! And it totally liked me. I started barking and jumping all over the place but she just stood there looking at me, calm and docile. The humans were petting it, talking about how soft it was. Personally, I was afraid for their lives! Then a little version of that thing came over and I didn’t know what to do with myself! I couldn’t tell if it wanted to eat me or start a game. Unfortunately, before I could get to the bottom of things, dad drug me away. He said I was making too much commotion but all I was trying to do was communicate with these things. But I’m not sure I was speaking the right language…

This was one of THE most exciting days we’ve had in a while. We spent about 4 hours walking around this place and afterwards I was just about dead. All I could think about was sleep and more sleep. I was so tired I didn’t even ask for our evening walk, which I never allow us to miss. I had to continue catching up on sleep on Sunday after our guests left…as you can imagine it was a highly stressful weekend for me. People around the house, new people to meet and greet at the park, all these WIERD creatures and tons of walking. Wow. But I do hope we go back sometime soon…cause that place was AWESOME! Maybe I’ll even get to play with a few critters next time too!

Until next time, keep your paws dirty and your tails wagging!

Newfie kisses,

Ayla
