Yesterday was pretty quiet for us. We did a couple smallish things around here but not really anything worth noting. Mostly we worked on internet stuff and watched lots of Olympics coverage (thanks to our hard disk recorder since everything good comes on at 2am here.) We did make another run for blackberries yesterday evening but all the good ones we’d scoped out before had already been picked. We wanted to go Sunday morning but there were people in the area so perhaps they were there picking our berries then. It’s actually a private lot where they’re growing so we have no claim to them at all, so being a bit stealthlike is useful. But next year, maybe we’ll remember the timing a bit better and get a jump start on everyone else. We can have Mackenzie first lesson in foraging. πŸ˜‰

Today it was back to work and I’m playing catch up with laundry. Also plenty of cleaning to be done since Ayla is still shedding and there are fur tumbleweeds everywhere. I really should start collecting this stuff and weaving it into sweaters…but I’m not quite that crazy yet.

Stefan contacted the locals about our “fecal matter pit” and they were very responsive. He sent them an email this morning with a few photos of the pit, explaining it’s for animal waste and they seem pleased with that so far. Perhaps a visit has been averted after all.

I also saw “The Teacher” this morning, one of the old-timers here in town. We hadn’t seen him for several months and were actually getting a bit worried about him. He’s at least 75 but still going strong. Apparently he was helping with a wedding and then someone moved and all sorts of other things…so he’s just been keeping himself busy. Know that feeling. I keep looking around my desk at my 15 to do lists and thinking I must be crazy…but somehow they all fit together in the end and things still manage to get crossed off.

So now that vacuuming is done I think I will see if I can’t finish reading my required materials for my Hypnobabies self-stufy course and listen to the first of those tracks. Everyone not on board with my positive birthing experience can now exit my “bubble of peace!”

Other tasks in mind today

  • Making more zucchini bread (we got more veggies from a neighbor last night: about a pound of plums, some really nice tomatoes, a huge cucumber and two nice little zucchinis) but this time with the sugar in it so I don’t end up just feeding it to the dog.
  • Writing up recipes for a friend’s wedding gift (which I intend to write about more later since I think it is a really cool idea)
  • Doing a little web programming on Newf Brand cause I don’t have enough to do today already
