Today we where finally able to continue work on the greenhouse. And although we had some starting problems with the roof trusses not fitting we managed to completely frame out the entire greenhouse.

When we had left off, we had completed the base and the two sidewalls and had built most of the roof trusses. As it turned out we discovered they wheren’t even and we needed to take them all apart again and then put them together again one by one. The easiest way we found for this was to build one of the trusses, lay it down on the floor and using it as a template for the other ones. Setting the finished trusses on the walls was not nearly as difficult as we had thought and the process went pretty quickly.

After all the roof trusses had been installed it was time to frame out the remaining two walls. We figured this process would be more complicated since there was a lot of measuring involved. The instructions wheren’t quite clear on which length the different beams should have, but it quickly became apparent why this was. Through slight bends or unevenness in the wood every piece is slightly different from the next – mostly just a few millimeters but still enough to make a difference.

The basic structure is now completely framed out. The next step will be to build the doors and windows and installing them. After that we want to install a wooden patio floor to cover up the boring gray concrete floor. And to finish it off we need to finish it all up by tacking in the foil. But more on that in a later post.
