So after learning to drink from the faucet at the campgrounds this weekend, this has become Ayla’s new “trick” at home. She will come into the kitchen while I’m washing dishes or whatever else that requires the sink to be on, puts her front paws on the counter (yeah, I’m definitely working on breaking that – especially with white counters and cabinets) and leans her head forward to drink from the faucet. Of course since she’s still too small to reach her head very far over the edge (it just barely clears the top of the counter), I have to pull the faucet head out for her to get to it. I know, I’m encouraging her bad behavior…but when I was growing up I had a cat who would not only run from anywhere in the house to drink from the faucet but would also sleep in the bathroom sink (talk about a scare when you look in the sink in the dark bathroom and see a big fuzzy black thing nestled in there). I love it when pets have quirky behavior so some things you just have to let slide. lol

She has also taken to drinking from the toilet when I flush and the fresh water comes flowing out. I guess I can thankful that she isn’t big enough to reach the flusher panel yet on the wall…but that will be a really interesting trick as well lol…certainly one for the video camera.

So our first night alone went ok. She seemed more wound up than usual after her walk although while we were walking she did a lot of running in the fields and seemed pretty tired. I’m not sure if she was acting out in protest of hubbers not being here or just found a burst of energy somewhere but I guess we’ll see how it goes tomorrow night.
