I wanted to post this almost two weeks ago but things have been a bit hectic around here (what’s new right?) so I’m only getting to this now. Before my dad and his wife Barbara arrived here in Germany on April 28th, we were trying to get a few things done to spruce up the place a bit.
One such area that needed serious attention was our entry way. If you have a Newfoundland who usually sleeps in the entry way, your walls will eventually look like this.
Clearly not a good thing. Whenever Ayla lays down, she leans against the wall and then slides down. She also sleeps on her back a lot with her feet on the wall. Both actions lead to an insane amount of dirt on the wall. If we were neat freaks, we’d probably be painting in here at least once a month.
I always find it incredible how much difference a little paint can make. The room actually feels happier when you walk through now – does that sound weird?
We’re ultimately hoping to put plexiglass sheeting on the lower part of the wall, maybe 3 feet high. Then instead of painting all the time, we can just wipe everything down. Plus we can let Mackenzie draw on it with dry erase markers lol. Unfortunately our plans to use plexiglass that we had here didn’t work out so well since cutting/breaking it is a pain. Instead we’re going to see if we can’t order pieces that will exactly fit the areas and then mount those up there. Yep, another little project for us to complete.
It looks so nice and fresh. I have two labrador retrievers and the same is true, especially this time of year. Have a fun visit with your family. They won’t even look at the wall. That is at least what I keep telling myself.
Ha! I had the same problem with my pure white Great Pyr. It was shocking.
I also had the same solution. Every six months. *sigh*
