So, it seems we succeeded in building the foundation for the greenhouse. Checking it this morning it is straight, hardening perhaps a bit too fast, but looking great.

As you can see from T’s quick post last night, it was a rough day yesterday. She was so tired that when she glanced at her own post later on she had no idea what she was trying to get across. I think it’s a true testament to the 150 gallons of rainwater and close to 4000lbs of concrete mix we hauled across the farm yesterday.

The concrete mixer did well and with an additional 25 40kg bags the foundation is definitely looking sturdy.

It’s another gorgeous day today, and much too hot to really get any work done. If this weather stays this way we won’t even need a greenhouse. One funny thing did happen yesterday – our neighbor was watching our efforts to pour the concrete. She was mentioning that a greenhouse would look good there and seemed quite happy that that was what we are building there. She asked us if we had done this before and when we told her this was the first time we are doing any of these things she was completely surprised since everything looks like we know what we are doing. Ha! A real farmer (their family has been living and farming on the plot next to ours since the early days of the farms in the 1830’s. We took that as a major compliment.

As the concrete base should cure a few more days we are using this as an excuse to take it really slow today. We are not getting the greenhouse wood until next weekend. Yesterday was rough work and we definitely feel quite worn out. A little more detail on our progress from yesterday in a bit.
