It seems Ayla is starting to learn her toys very well now…Thankfully my husband brought some new items home with him today that will hopefully amuse her. She has a red kong shaped like a bone which you can stuff small treats into. The first few days she would nose it around the room. She started using her feet to push it quickly after. But today she started picking it up in her mouth and tossing it up in the air…and then taking the middle in her mouth and shaking it around. Highly amusing to say the least and it’s proving to be quite successful for her. I’ll try to put some pics up of it soon.

She also did a new “trick” tonight.

Just to show that Newfies clearly have no idea how big they are, Ayla packed herself into a cubby in the bottom of our coffee table. I actually measured it the other day because we are planning to get some baskets or boxes to put in them so the puppy won’t eat everything that is usually stored under there like TV remotes. So it’s 46cm wide, 29cm deep and 18cm high. The best part was when she started to get out though. Face first had to be the only way but it usually (yes she actually did this more than once – we were FRAP-ing again) resulted in a face plant. We couldn’t help but laugh at her crazy puppy antics. Needless to say the next time she tries to fit herself in here, it’s probably not going to work out so well.

We also happened to measure her tonight when she was in the Newfie rug position and she’s 38 inches. Tomorrow we’ll also do a weigh-in and height check.

Thanks to all the new toys we seem to have exhausted her finally. She had too much energy after her last nap and of course a late night FRAP so we got to try out two new balls and a cube on a cord which she loves to thrash around. She gets so worked up sometimes that I think she’s going to end up hurting herself one of these days.

Off to bed now…more Adventures in Newfland tomorrow.
