Since we have quite a few fruit trees around the farm, I thought I would share some photos.
First, our grapevine growing in the courtyard along the wall of the barn. Last year it actually produced quite a few grapes and we even got to sample a few before the birds ate them all. They were quite tasty although there is not nearly enough for a bottle of wine π
Moving on to the backyard, we have the gooseberry bush which is quite full of fruit. We may actually have to cover this one and the current bushes to prevent the birds from taking off with everything. Hubby loves gooseberries so he’s going to be fighting the birds off as fiercely as he can.
This is one of the current bushes which is going to produce a nice amount of berries for us. Those little clusters you see that look like pollen or flowers are the berries. We have a second bush (I’m not sure which are white and which are red at this point) which isn’t looking quite as nice. Part of the tree seems to be dying so we’re hoping that the fruit which is on there will be ok.
And this is one of the small peach trees which remains in the garden. The fruit is still quite small but we didn’t harvest them last year until August or so. These guys have plenty of time to get nice and juicy π
Good luck with the fruit. My Gooseberry bush has been attacked by the caterpillars of the sawfly again this year π
π Poor little gooseberries. That’s terrible. I haven’t seen too many caterpillars out there so far but I won’t jinx it. I was actually out in the garden this morning and I’m more concerned about those crazy Weinbergschnecken now which are just everywhere. Wiki says they eat slug larvae which we definitely need…I just wish they’d eat the slugs too!
