Ok, Grandparent’s Day was actually on September 13th, but since I’m already playing catch up with my blog posts, I figured another late one is going to be all right. Maybe next year I’ll get to Grandparent’s Day before it passes (it’ll be on September 12th in 2010!)

Grandparents play a special role in a child’s life and I have many fond memories from all of my grandparents. There were always lots of fun times, often lots of food and lots of love. But do your kids really know anything about their grandparents and where they came from? Or what their grandparents were like when they were little? Because remember, they weren’t always grandparents!

We got a really cool little children’s bible from Mackenzie’s godfather, Daniel, which is personalized with her name in it. That way the stories that she reads will have more meaning to her personally. But did you know there are lots of other cool places that offer personalized books like this? And now there’s one called You and Me that is specifically for grandparents who want to share their own memories and photos with their grandchildren.
You and Me

This is how it works:

You place an order with ISeeMe.com and they will send you a kit with questions for you to answer about your childhood and your relationship with your grandchild. Stuff like: “One of my favorite childhood memories is..,” “Things that I/we love about you are..,” “My/our hopes and dreams for you are…” The kit includes a list of 10 suggested photos for you to mail or upload, and a prepaid envelope to mail the answers and photos back. Then they typeset everything and your very own book arrives 3 weeks later.

Take a Virtual Tour of You and Me at ISeeMe.com!

Seriously–isn’t that just awesome? Now I’m not saying that all of Mackenzie’s grandparents should rush out and get a copy of this book with their own details, but it really if very neat and a great way for kids to remember their grandparents as they get older. This site also has tons of other cool books and products you can personalize so go take a look. Remember, Christmas is only a few short months away! 🙂
