My dear doggie friends!

It’s been a crazy couple of days here. First, it’s super cold!!! We’re talking barely above freezing for almost a week, folks…and I hear there’s more to come. It’s been really clear and sunny which was nice…but some snow would rock! Apparently snow is something I would love…I’ve only seen about an inch of the stuff on the ground. It was alright I guess. But I did get to break through the ice in my creek down the street yesterday on our walk. It was heaven!

I’m in heat again and making the humans a bit concerned about me from time to time. My appetite has slacked off quite a bit and I didn’t really ask to talk walks…but it’s just been too cold for me. Plus, with all the commotion involving Grand Dale & that new baby thing I was worrying myself sick. I kept dad up half the night crying about not being able to find Mackenzie. I howled and whined but nothing made him produce mom or the kiddo. I don’t know why they would do something like this to me, the nanny, but I am not amused that they evaporated for a few days. How could they not tell me what’s going on?? I was SO relieved when they got back home that I immediately laid down in my chair and went to sleep for the rest of the day.

Before they left there was a terrible accident in the bathroom. You see, rubber duckie started vying for space next to the new santa dwarf sitting by the bathtub. I heard the argument begin to escalate into a scuffle and went in to mediate…but I was too late. Just as I went to ask duckie just what was going on, he pushed Santa over the edge. The final results were not pretty. Although his visit here was a short one, he will be missed. He is survived by his brother who will help us remember him during Christmas’ to come.

I got to play with my good friend Maya one last time in 2008. And you almost wouldn’t believe it but I was barely scared of the fireworks at all this year. I stayed close to mom and dad, licking them a lot…but I kinda enjoyed seeming some of them out the front window again. They’re rather pretty when you know they’re not just making lots of noise but looking cool too.

I hope everyone had a great start into the New Year! I even got to share some of the filet mignon my humans were having in their fondue. It was AWESOME! Hope it’s a sign of a great year ahead for us all 🙂

May you find lots of yummy things to sniff and explore…

And may you find wide open spaces to run and have fun in!

Newfie kisses!!!

Ayla
