Is it possibly that it’s only 8 am?? Feels like I’ve been awake all day already. At 6 am we went for our first walk since Ayla was SOOO full of energy after Stefan let her out to take care of her morning business. Playing in the yard is definitely not an option this morning since it was raining all night and to say the yard is wet is rather an understatement. Of course drying off the dog can become a fun task if only she wouldn’t try to eat the towel…or is that the fun part? Hmmm. lol

So after the walk she was still totally wound up (obviously 15 minutes wasn’t nearly long enough despite her fighting me the entire way) so I decided I will try feeding her at 6:30 am, noon and 6:30 pm from now on versus 7, noon and 7to see how that works out. After breakfast she went into her crate (with some gentle treat persuasion) and almost immediately settled down to sleep. She slept for about 45 minutes and then round 2 of the energy packed morning began.

She went outside to tinkle then we came inside to play a bit but most toys couldn’t hold her attention very long. At about 7:50 I started getting tired of commanding her off furniture and the stairs (stupid baby gate is STILL not here but boy will I have a party when it is) so I tried the kong which I filled with peanut butter and froze yesterday. That provided about 15 minutes of entertainment and then she needed to go back outside to relieve herself…peanut butter makes you VERY thirsty lol.

Anywho, after all that I had to put the retractable leash on her because she was just running every where, trying to eat everything and every second I was taking care of something else she was back on the stairs. The potentially good thing about the leash is that she loves to play tug of war with it. Since we rarely use this leash I figure it’s not the worst thing in the world if she thinks this is a toy…and after playing together for about 5 minutes, she crawled under the dining table and is now passed out. Thank goodness for small miracles. Guess we’ll see if we can maintain this high energy level all day or not. I can say for certain that if she’s like this in a few hours, we’re going out for a much longer walk before lunch 😉 A tired puppy is a good puppy right?!
