Yesterday we went to a wedding and the reception was held at an old farm. They’ve turned the fields around the farm into a golf course and the farm itself is just huge. The call it the chicken farm although the only real traces left of the birds are on their menu which consists mainly of various chicken meals.

The owners have done an incredible job of renovating the barn inside and it gave us some great inspiration for our barn which we’d love to turn into a space we can use for parties and such.

One thing we noticed is that they don’t even have insulation in the roof. We would have thought it would be incredibly hot inside since it was about 80 degrees yesterday, but they have installed ceiling fans and an attic fan to blow the hot air out so it stayed very nice inside.

They used plain old metal ceiling fans but we were thinking it might be fun to install the ceiling fans with a belt connecting all of them to turn them which would maintain the old feeling.

They’ve hung all sorts of old farming equipment and tools from the ceiling and we happen to have quite a few of those things lying around the farm, like this old plow.

Here’s the inside of our barn space now. We’d have quite a bit of work to do but it would definitely be worth it….now we just need some more time and money 🙂
