The weather in Frankfurt is notoriously bad. The winters aren’t harsh but they are filled with many, many rainy days where the sky remains gray for what seems like months at a time and you just hope and pray for the day when spring and summer finally arrive. This winter wasn’t really all that different although we did have a sprinkling of sunny days to break up the monotony. And since we were working on the house during that time anyway, we had a distraction. We still have a distraction (or thirty) now but the problem is that most of our projects involve some sort of outside work and that is pretty miserable when it’s drizzling outside ALL DAY. If it would just rain and be done with, things would be fine. Or if it would continue to stay warm outside and drizzle…also ok. But we’ve flip-flopped from highs of 80’s to highs of 50’s in a matter of hours…and now the rains are going to last for another few days. Thank goodness we still haven’t turned off our heater downstairs because now we need it again.

This is what really kills me. I just start getting used to not wearing a jacket every time I walk out the front door…or not needing a sweatshirt in the house all the time and then it comes to a screeching halt for about a week. And all the sudden we’re back to scorching temps and no rain at all again.

The dog is loving it since she can sleep comfortably in almost any room of the house again…not to mention she gets to be wet almost 24/7. She just takes so long to dry out and with it misting outside all the time, you can’t really force her to stay indoors every second of the day. So we have piles of dog towels by both doors and one of the floor to towel her off a bit when she comes in. That does not imply that she is dry in any way…we simply remove the excess water that is just laying on her fur.

Perhaps it’s too much to ask for some sort of normalcy in the weather patterns. We’re hearing all this stuff about global warming every day, after all. But I just would like to see the seasons of the year not backtrack quite as much once they arrive. Or maybe I’ve just been too spoiled with the weather in Miami and Texas for so many years…
