When we bought the framework for the greenhouse foundation today, we also ordered 35 bags of cement to be delivered. They told us we could have it delivered on Thursday but we’ve been playing with the idea of picking it up ourselves in the Defender. It would probably take two trips but it’s heavy and we’d still need to schlep it to the back of the barn. So we’re starting to think that having a guy deliver it on Thursday on a pallet (which can hopefully be placed right in front of the barn which would save us a lot of leg work around the container) might not be such a bad thing. So instead of pouring our foundation tomorrow, we’re going to be constructing the raised beds, transplanting the strawberry plants and herbs that we are saving, lay the groundwork for our watering system and finish digging out the majority of the garden paths. Wow, that sounds huge lol.
Tomorrow morning we will go to the local home improvement store to pick up the wood for the raised beds. We’ll also be using brackets this time to add support to the beds since we’re currently planning to build them above ground. We also hope to order the gravel and stone for the paths so that it can be delivered on Thursday or Friday. And we’ll need to pick up a few more things for the irrigation system…maybe we’ll find a few more bargains. ๐
Another big day of shopping and hard work. Hopefully we’ll have some warmth and beautiful sunshine to make the day really enjoyable.
Oh, and S’s dad offered us some thing called China grass which we should be able to grow along our back fence to give us a bit more privacy from our back neighbors…always a good thing ๐
