Nearly ten years ago, Stefan and I were rummaging around in a book shop, looking for gifts to take home to friends and otherwise finding a huge pile of books we wanted to take home. Thankfully, that was back in the day when you could carry tons of luggage back with you on the plane for free. 😉

We’ve always had a weak spot for cookbooks.  We’ve got a few cabinets full of them at the moment and have been lucky to find some awesome ones throughout the years. It’s no secret that we love eating good food. So when we saw this laying cookbook laying in the pile, we were intrigued.

Biker Cookbook

The Harley Biker’s Cookbook: Big Bites for Hungry Bikers by Owen Rossan is chock full of hearty, down-home meals that will satisfy the most rugged and enormous of appetites. It’s not the biggest cookbook ever, at only 77 pages, but every recipe we have tried from there so far has been really tasty — and most of them have been regulars in our dinner repertoire.

The recipes in this cookbook are quite simple and easy enough for even novice dabblers in the kitchen to master. In fact, we actually considered buying this book for a bachelor friend of ours who loves motorcycles. But we couldn’t bear to part with the book once we started checking out the recipes…and they only had one copy in stock.

The Harley Biker’s Cookbook is broken down into basic types of meals: Breakfast & Brunch, Appetizers, Meat, Poultry and so on…and even includes a few desserts if you still have room for them after the mega-meals. I can imagine being served the wings, BBQ shrimp, super fudge brownies or mozzarella sticks in any out-of-the-way diner across America. Heavy, great flavor and not a care in the world about the nutritional value or fat content…and I can’t think of a better way to have it. It’s also pretty fun to look at. Whether you’re a biker fan or just appreciate some classic Americana photos and good food, the inside of this cookbook will either leave you wanting to go buy a hog so you can drive it down to the grocery store and then start cooking.

Here’s a few of our favorite recipes from The Harley Biker’s Cookbook:

In total, there are 60 recipes which are fit to feed the hungriest of bikers…or family members. The recipes are not too involved and generally pretty quick to prepare, so they’re great for weeknight meals. Tacos with all the accessories or meatloaf with a fresh salad and a big bowl of mashed potatoes are even good when company comes over and you don’t plan on getting too overboard. They are both always a big hit with our friends and they also happen to be freezer-friendly too.

The Harley Biker’s Cookbook was printed back in 2002 and it’s no longer in print…so finding it in book stores isn’t going to be easy. But thankfully, the Internet puts nearly everything at our finger tips and you can pick up a copy on Amazon.com or Amazon.de.
