As I mentioned in my post yesterday, we have a lot planned for this weekend. This morning we left the house at about 8:30am so we could start the shopping. We managed to get almost everything we needed from the local home improvement store, excluding the pots we need to transplant everything in the greenhouse. For some reason it is nearly impossible to find cheap planting pots here in our area. We’ve discussed this before but basically our only hope at this point was ordering them from ebay which unfortunately took a lot longer than we expected.

So in our quest for 50 suitable, cheap pots, we decided to head over to a garden store about 20 minutes from us called Sunflower Gartencenter. We have never been in the store but have driven by it several times and figured this would be our best bet. From the moment we got out of the truck and walked through their fresh market center we were in love. They have a very nice market stand with fruits and veggies of all sorts and sizes. You can even buy fresh jalepenos and habeneros which are very hard to find…and at very reasonable prices. In addition to all of their beautiful fresh goodies they also have tons of more specialty items like herb fused oils, fresh dried pasta, jams, coffees and teas, and much more.

Once we managed to tear ourselves out of this area, the real fun began. Since we didn’t really know where we were going and the store is pretty huge, we just started wandering around. One of the first things we found was a huge Weber grill store. They have one of every type of grill Weber makes as well as all the various accessories and tools. It is supposedly the largest Weber store-in-store in Germany. Stefan has already picked out his next two grills. One is a massive party-sized version of the usual round kettle type grill. It’s about 6 feet in diameter and could grill just about one entire cow at once. They also have some incredible gas grills that we will just have to get to replace ours at some point.

Knowing that this area was highly dangerous, we moved on in search of the pots and found exactly what we were looking for. Not only did they have plenty of them (which was a problem at previous stores) but they were only half price! So we bought all of our pots and got out of there before we were tempted to buy anything else.

We will absolutely be going back to this store. It is one of the few stores we have actually been excited about in a long time. The staff were knowledgeable as well and the selection cannot be beat. Everything we could want and more they have there. The store even has their own brand of seeds and soil which really makes us take them seriously. And they are open for two hours on Sunday morning so if we run out of soil to replant everything today then we just might HAVE to go back tomorrow 🙂
