I’m not sure I would be totally comfortable with this myself but it is an interesting concept. Geenee is a website for home-owners who are interested to trade houses for a few days, weeks or longer with someone else so that they can experience a more local feeling in the places they visit. After launching in March 2006, they now have over 3000 houses in their database in major cities around the globe.
Their searching interface is really nice and some of the houses are also available for rent instead of just to trade. They even have options for pet friendly locations which is always important for us. Each house has a calendar page available which shows you when the house would be available for trade and they also tell you what continents the owners want to trade for. The one thing I couldn’t find was prices on any of the places available for rental…but maybe I was looking in the wrong place.
All in all an interesting site but I’m just not convinced I would be that trusting – despite them giving you several guides and suggestions about how to swap safely and to the mutual agreement of both parties.
