After the huge success of our recent post about heading out for a night on Fifth Avenue South with only $50 in our pocket to spend for the whole date night evening (which was a great time), we decided to make cheap meals and entertainment, whether with friends, your spouse or the family, and more a regular feature on FoodieNaples.com. This time around, we decided to see if we can have a great night out as a family of 3, without spending a fortune. And guess what? We had dinner, drinks, mini-golf and dessert for under $50 bucks! Read on to learn more about our night.
Our kindergartener has been begging to go play mini-golf for months now. It’s one of our favorite family outings and so that was going to be a main focal point of our night. Instead of our usual golfing spot, we decided to try a new (to us) location in Bonita Springs, FL, which meant we’d need a restaurant in North Naples or Bonita that was nearby. We explored a few dining options, and were looking for something with a Happy Hour active until about 7pm where a dining special would also be available which would let us dine for $30 or less (so we could still include mini-golf). The August ValPak included a Boston Beer Garden coupon for a BOGO Dinner Entree — and since we’ve never been but have heard good things, we decided to give it a try. The coupon requires that you make a selection from the BBG Signature Dishes or Off the Grill menu items, which are in the $11.99 – $19.99 price range, and feature pasta dishes, ribs, seafood dishes and steaks. Other fine print: “Cannot be combined with any other discounts or offers. 18% Gratuity added and tax added prior to discount. Dine in only. No meal splits.” Boston Beer Garden has a sports bar atmosphere but is very family friendly. There are lots of big booths around the side and TV’s everywhere to tune in to your favorite sports. We enjoyed sitting next to one of the huge windows to watch the people strolling by. The staff was friendly and efficient and our orders were up quickly. The beer was also cold in frosted glasses, which is always a nice touch. The Fish & Chips were good and the fish was a nice filet that was tender and flaky. The portion was also very plentiful. The Burrito Grande was an enormous portion with some of the best black beans I’ve ever eaten. The kids portion of pasta was also enormous and our 6-year-old didn’t come close to finishing it. It normally comes with Marinara, which was quite tasty, but our Kindergartener opted for pasta “au natural”. After finishing our dinners and drinks it was time to move on to the most fun part of the evening: mini-golf. We went to Golf Safari Mini Golf which is a great course. If you want to get the best price, make sure you sign up to the Golf Safari mailing list before you go. After you subscribe, you immediately get a coupon for 50% off all visits for 30 days!! During the summer, everyone can play for just $5 per person all day Wednesday (with or without a coupon – but no half off discounts available there). And if you pay once, you can play as many rounds as you want that same day. So you can go in the morning and again in the evening. Or play a round, grab dinner and go back for a showdown. To close off our evening, we stopped at Culver’s (5775 Airport Pulling Rd N, Naples, FL 34109) for some of their amazing frozen custard. With a BOGO 2-Scoop Sundae coupon in hand, we just could not pass up the opportunity to splurge. But don’t let the photo deceive you — those sundaes are impressive! All in all we had a fantastic night and had a long night of fun, food and laughter. There are so many bargains to be had all over Naples, from free movie nights to BOGO specials, so be sure to keep your eye out for them. And when you go visit your local restaurants — tell them Foodie Naples sent you!

Can you review healthy organic restaurants as well? I try to eat healthy, ate at Beer Garden on Immoculee and the food was awful! I don’t think sugary desserts are good for anyone.
Thanks for your suggestion, Laura. We are actually going to be featuring an amazing organic vegan restaurant here in Naples very soon!
