Well it’s practically official now…the doggo will be moving 😉 We probably still need to wait until October 1st to start full renovations but we have the keys and signed the paperwork so we are going to start the clean-up process inside this weekend with a few friends.
Ayla will have her own pig stall which will be converted into a dog bath and we will probably put a grooming table in there as well at some stage. There is also a mini-pond sort of thing that should be perfect for her when it’s warm. We’ll just fill it up and let her splash around as much as she wants. It’s concrete so we won’t have to worry about the dirt unless it’s coming off of her lol.
Last night, we were gone for a while during our meeting on the house and we left her crated about 6 hours. She didn’t really seem too phased by it when we got home although she was extremely thrilled to see us when we got home.
We tried to let her sleep in the kitchen instead of her crate but she didn’t seem to grasp the concept. She barked and whined and carried on for about 20 minutes until we finally went downstairs and took her into the living room, said “time for bed, go in your box,” tossed the usual treats in there (yeah, we’re still working on the whole love your crate concept) and she went right in without a protest at all (which is pretty amazing since she’s been really weird about her crate lately).
I went to run some errands here in our little town which I knew wouldn’t take more than 15-30 minutes so I thought I’d give her another test. I left her out of the crate while I went to the post office since she was relatively calm when I was getting things ready and when I came home 15 minutes later, she was just relaxing in the entry way and waiting for me to come home. Nothing was destroyed, no shoes in her mouth or anything. So hopefully she’ll be on her best behavior this weekend because we have quite a bit of work to do and we won’t be able to constantly play with her….but she’s usually a very good girl so we have high hopes 😉
