Today was an extremely productive day for us. Our first order of business was to buy some pastries for breakfast from the local bakery and let Ayla get some excercise and take care of her business. So we went out with her at about 8 am which apparently was far too late in her opinion. She sat patentially with me outside the bakery as hubby bought breakfast and then she was ready to hightail it over to the walking paths. What we didn’t realize until about half was there (about a 3 minute walk) was that she REALLY had to go. She lost a bit of her load on the way although she was clearly doing what she could to keep it together. And finally, when we reached the safe zone where she could do as she pleased, she was disturbed by a little Westie with serious territorial issues. Eventually we got far enough away that he stopped barking and she could relax…and she really had a spring in her step when she was done lol. Sorry for all of you who are reading this now and thinking, “Wow, that was far too much information!” 😉

Hubby & I started working at about 9:30 am after we came back from our walk. Two friends who arrived last night pitched in at about 10 when they were fully awake…and a third friend started helping us out at about noon. The container was more than half-full when she arrived as you can see in the picture with Ayla.

Essentially the previous home owner was a collector of everything. We had to start in one room and work from shelf to shelf, throwing away a vast majority of the things we came across. We are pretty certain that we’ll have another container or two full of trash before it’s all over but we are definitely having fun exploring everything and definitely haven’t regretting telling the owners not to clean anything out themselves.

This evening, we’ve built ourselves a bonfire to start burning up some of the smaller pieces of untreated wood which we’ve found in mass quantities at the house. I think there may be enough stuff around there to heat the house all winter lol. We’ve essentially worked from 9:30 am until 4 pm and still have a whole lot of work ahead of us tomorrow so I’m guessing that by 11 pm we will all have passed out.
