I’ve been in a cleaning frenzy today. We’re trying out a new system here where I use Monday as my “get the house back in order after the bomb went off weekend is over.” We’re usually so busy focusing on getting big projects done that the house is in disarray and there are fur tumbleweeds all over the place. There’s always a huge pile of laundry, lots of dishes and also some baking to be done (unless I am really ambitious on Sundays which I’m really going to have to start doing!) I managed to make chocolate chip cookies, mocha muffins and zucchini bread…so now we’re stocked up on goodies for a little while. ๐Ÿ™‚

After I came back from the walk with the dog this morning, I ran into our postal carrier who is an extremely friendly woman. She started telling me about her day on Friday…when her postal truck that was parked almost right in front of our house was broken into. The thief busted her window and grabbed her purse from the car, then hopped in his red station wagon and left. Thankfully, the thief ditched the purse over the weekend and a jogger found it on Sunday. Almost everything was still there – just the ATM card was missing. Needless to say, she’s going around telling anyone and everyone in the neighborhood. We’ve always considered this to be a really safe area and the fact that this happened at about 10am, during broad daylight really makes me wonder. We have left our cars unlocked, the front gate unlocked and so on. But that’s certainly going to have to stop.

In better news, we had a garden waste trash collection day here last week and when we went to walk the dog, we saw our neighbor had put a live Christmas tree out. Stefan got a nice sized tree (about 3 feet/1 meter high,) for Christmas this year because we want to decorate it and display it in our courtyard – figured buying one tree a year is enough. But when your neighbors are trashing them, it’s even better!

Spring seems to be coming and I am thrilled. We still have a big cold snap predicted for us. Back down to -6C and I am NOT thrilled about that. It’s only causing us more trouble with our seedlings for the garden since we haven’t figured out what we’re going to build our tunnels from yet.

I made another really cool find at the home improvement store on Friday – a tripod for my camera. They had one for holding a laser level which was really nice for only 17 euros. The last ones we saw at Media Markt (like Best Buy) were 50 to 100 euros! This one is definitely as nice as some of those.

Tomorrow is another day and we have someone coming to clean our heater tank and give it a checkup. It’s only going to cost 15 euros but I’m really wondering how they are going to clean the thing with oil in it. Guess I’ll learn something new. Still need to collect the fur tumbleweeds before he arrives – don’t want him to get ambushed. ๐Ÿ˜‰
